Moxifloxacin eye drop is an antibiotic drug. The eye drop prevents the growth of the bacteria that result in infection. Therefore, Moxifloxacin eye drops inhibit the activity of a bacterial enzyme named DNA-gyrase. It reduces symptoms like pain, redness, itching, or soreness due to infections in the eyes.

- Moxifloxacin eye drops are used to treat Bacterial eye infections.
Administration Of Dose
- Instil one drop in the infected eye or eyes as applicable 2 times a day.
- External use alone is allowed with Moxifloxacin eye drops.
- The drops dosage and treatment duration with drops can be adopted as per your treating physician’s advice.
- Keep on using the eye drops for the defined period.
- Avoid touching the eye while keeping the dropper close.
- Put the medicine in the bottom eyelid by squeezing the dropper gently.
- Remove any surplus liquid. Carry on with the treatment, as prescribed by your physician.
- Dose & course of treatment vary according to the patient’s medical history, along with age & gender.
- Dosage also depends on the route of administration and your chief complaint for which the eye drops are prescribed.
Side Effects
You may experience mild to moderate Side Effects when you use the Moxifloxacin eye drops. As soon as the course of treatment is complete, these adverse effects disappear. Nevertheless, report to your doctor right away if you are worried about the Side Effects. Within a short while after using it, it can cause eye pain, dry eyes, and a burning sensation in the eyes. These Side Effects, however, are temporary and disappear without any need for treatment.
Precautions
- Don’t miss any doses and complete the full treatment even if you feel better.
- Press the corner of the eye (near the nose) for about 1 minute, right after instilling the medicine.
- Don’t touch the tip to any surface or to your eye in order to avoid contamination.
- Wait for a minimum of 5-10 minutes before administering the second dose in the same eye to prevent dilution.
- It might cause transient blurring of vision upon first use. Use with caution before driving or operating machines.
- Avoid using contact lenses until the infection is gone.
- Be sure to use it within 4 weeks after opening the medicine.
